Collection: Strainers

A cocktail strainer is metal bar accessory used to remove ice from a mixed drinks as it is poured into the service glass.

There are two common types of strainers. The Hawthorne strainer is a disc (Called the ''rim'') with a handle and two or more stabilizing prongs.

The Julep strainer is shaped like a bowl with a handle, and will fit tightly into a mixing glass or shaker when inserted at the proper angle.

A sieve, fine mesh strainer, or sift, is a tool used for separating wanted elements from unwanted material or for controlling the particle size distribution of a sample, using a screen such as a woven mesh or net or perforated sheet material.
